I'm Shan, a handicraft enthusiast who explores the world of hand-paint jewelry making, working in teaching, creation, and customized. I’m also a writer and published 4 DIY accessories books. The fifth hand-painted shrink-plastic book is expected to be published in February this year 2023.

【Hand Painting in Accessories】
COPIC marker is my main painting material, I directly paint on Shrink Plastic, then heat and shape. It’s also an important step that I used to turn painting into a part of accessories. In addition, the alcohol base not only protects the hand-painted pattern but also, uses UV-cured coating on top, which allows the work to have functions such as reducing scratches and daily waterproofing.

【Passion and Inspiration】
Most ideas come from life experiences and are inspired by nature. It can be a blooming flower, a warm sun shining through the glass, or just a leaf on the sidewalk. I like to interpret things through sketching and painting, using different painting materials. Because I enjoy lines from every single movement of my hand, leaving unique paint strokes and detail on the surface. That's why I combine painting with jewelry.

【アクセサリーのハンドペイント】について
コピックマーカーを主な画材として、シュリンクプラスチックの上に直接絵を描いて、熱を加えて形を整えます。また、ペイントをアクセサリーの一部にするために使用した重要なステップです。また、アルコールベースは手描きの模様を保護するだけでなく、その上にUV硬化塗料を使用することで、傷の軽減や日常的な防水などの機能を持たせています。

【情熱とひらめき】について
アイデアの多くは、生活体験から生まれ、自然からインスピレーションを受けます。それは、咲いている花であったり、ガラス越しに射し込む暖かい太陽であったり、歩道に落ちている葉っぱであったりします。私は、さまざまな画材を使い、スケッチや絵画を通して物事を解釈するのが好きです。なぜなら、手の動きのひとつひとつから線が生まれ、ユニークな絵の具のストロークやディテールが表面に残るのを楽しむことができるからです。だから、私は絵画とジュエリーを組み合わせているのです。

●作家コメント/Comment：

I really like butterflies and moths with bright colors and beautiful wings. But a funny thing is I’m afraid that insects' bodies can’t have real ones. So, I caught them with COPIC markers, shrink-plastic, and a recycled chocolate box and collected the first specimen box in my life:)

For this work, I selected several main tones [BV13, YR04, Y04, YG03, E33] and used CopicMultiliner to outline the details. This work took about 3 months to complete, and a lot of time was spent experimenting with brush strokes and painting on the plastic surface because once the painting is on the plastic sheet, there is no way to modify it! And plastic doesn't absorb as much ink as paper does.
